Lyndon has been shooting events in the Alberni Valley for over 15 years. He started his Port Alberni event photography adventure in 2010 as a weekend freelancer for the Alberni Valley Times. Some of the highlights being the Provincial Wakeboarding Championships, and Ty Watson's annual charity event. (Note: The Alberni Valley Times is no longer in operation as of 2017. ) From there, with connections being created, Lyndon was invited to setup a booth and shoot the 2010 Thunder In The Valley. That same Autumn, Lyndon setup a photography booth at the Alberni District Fall Fair. It was a four day event and Lyndon spent most of his time admiring and shooting a variety of what was occurring, including the parade. It was also his first time seeing and shooting the Sunday Logger Sports, one of the many traditions of the Fall Fair. From this Lyndon was hooked and knew event photography would always be an important part of his photography journey. He has been the go to photographer for the Alberni District Fall Fair in recent years, starting in 2022, photographing the concerts, the fair grounds, many activities and his all time favourite, shooting long exposures in the night of the lights from the various rides. From that point onwards he has photographed everything from small private back garden parties including weddings, to multi-day community events.

This was my fourth consecutive year photographing over multiple days and my third year shooting on behalf of the Fall Fair. Volunteering my photography skills to important community events is how I give back to my community.

Alberni Valley Drag Race Association

Lyndon was given permission to access the site for the 3 day event. Day one was a burnout competition with day two and three was an 1/8 mile drag race on the lands of the old Somass Mill on the waterfront in south Port Alberni.

Alberni Valley Community Events

Some of the very special and important community events he loves to photograph include the Annual Port Alberni Toy Run and the September 30 Reconciliation Walk (also known as Orange Shirt Day). It is always exciting to get out on the road during the annual Toy Run and shoot the motorcycles that roar through town. The Port Alberni Toy Run is the largest on Vancouver Island. It's also important to be a part of and do his part in documenting the Reconciliation Walk. He enjoys setting up on the walking part somewhere and then going to the traditional ceremony held after the walk is completed.

Alberni Valley Awards Event Photography

From 2015 to 2022, Lyndon operated his part-time photography business out of his retail business Azalea Flowers and Gifts. During this time, and being a member of the Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce, Lyndon was often invited to document many of the Chamber's Dinner meetings. Many other events hosted by the Chamber including Christmas at McLean Mill, and Halloween "Jeepers Creepers" were events Lyndon was honoured to be a part of. In 2017 Lyndon was one of two official photographers for the Tri-Conic event held by the Chamber of Commerce to coincide with the Canada Day 150 event celebrations. This was a three day sport challenge consisting of a marathon, bike ride and long distance swim.

Lyndon was the official photographer for the Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony from 2016-2022.

Port Alberni Festival Photographer

Music festivals are a highlight for Lyndon, who has been involved with the Five Acre Shaker for several years. Lyndon got his first taste of shooting a major festival in 2017 when he was invited to shoot at the Five Acre Shaker when it was held at McLean Mill National Historic Site. While the festival has since moved the Fall Fair grounds, Lyndon has enjoyed
being a part of their media team for most of the years following.

Port Alberni Sports Event Photographer

The Vancouver Island 5 Pin Bowling Tournament was held in April 2024 at Rainbow Lanes and Lyndon was the photographer for the bowling, the after party and the awards ceremony. It was a full weekend with great people, superb bowling, exceptional hosts, and major learning in a new sport. Since then Lyndon has gone on to shoot more bowling and is also collaborating with Rainbow Lanes to deliver photos for their new website.

Port Alberni Branding Photographer

When Lyndon is not shooting an event he is often shooting live music at the Rainbow Room Lounge, operating video for FloTV at the Port Alberni Bombers Junior Hockey, or being involved with another photography genre. His spare time is mostly devoted to learning photography or seeking out an opportunity to shoot something including portraits, more sports, corporate branding and product photography to name a few.
