My most recent 2025 automobile photo shoot was the annual Port Alberni Toy Run, held the the weekend of September 13-14. I positioned myself just inside the corner of Vimey Road to catch the bikes as the turned my way from Roger Street in front of the ADSS school. After the 1000 plus bikes roared past me, I proceeded to the Fall Fair grounds where the biker games, the Show N Shine and all the bikes lined up throughout the massive property. It was my first time shooting the biker sports and watching these funny moments unfold.
One of my most recent 2025 automobile photo shoots were the weekend of August 8 - 11, 2025 during the return of Thunder in the Valley. It started early on Friday with some experimental shots of the Alberni Pacific Railway's No 11 Diesel locomotive, which was out doing train rides. From there I walked across the street to the Thunder in the Valley classic cars show and shine, hosted by the Valley Street Rods Association. Then the fun really began! The kick off of Thunder in the Valley began Friday night with a Burnout Competition. The next morning and for the rest of the weekend I was shooting drag racing on the former Somass Mill lands, next to the Tyee Landing in Port Alberni.
Prior to Thunder in the Valley I had the pleasure of shooting a classic 1940 Pontiac Arrow automobile on July 19 2025. Those images where taken as part of the event "15 Years of music on
the Harbour Quay".

Lyndon started is automobile photographic journey in 2010 when he got a taste of show n shines on Vancouver Island. The quality and quantity of antique autos was hard to miss as they seemed to be everywhere. On Father's Day of that same year, Lyndon was fortunate enough to visit the most impressive of all car shows, the annual Qualicum Beach Father's Day car show. This annual event is the largest on Vancouver Island.

From there Lyndon was introduced to another first for him: Drag Racing! In August of 2010, Lyndon headed out to the Alberni Valley Regional Airport and was given site access to Thunder In The Valley. He spent the entire two days with a booth for image processing and shooting drag racing. It was the first and only time Lyndon was ever in a position to attend Thunder in the Valley, until 2025. August 8 - 10 Lyndon will be onsite for Thunder in the Valley. This year, 2025, Lyndon has been given site access for the return of this spectacular drag racing event. The event was cancelled for a couple of years as the organization sought out a suitable location. This time the event is being held at the old Somass Mill property near the water front. As soon as the images can be processed and ready for sharing they will be made available on this site.

Port Alberni Motorcycle Event Photographer
In September of each year the annual Port Alberni Toy Run roars through town with hundreds and hundred of motorcycles. Lyndon loves to get out, somewhere along the planned route, and shoot all the motorcycles that come out. His favourite shooting location is in front of the water fountain at the Harbour Quay, but from year to year Lyndon may prefer to find another location, change it up with a different vantage point, looking to see if any other location is as spectacular as the Harbour Quay.

Port Alberni Marine Ships and Boats Photographer
As the saying goes "Planes, trains and automobiles". Add to that "Boats and Ships" and Lyndon has a healthy collection of images
in this category.

Port Alberni is a deep sea port so there are always opportunities to shoot large ships.
In 2019 Lyndon was asked by the Chamber of Commerce to take photos of the Cruise Ship Maasdam during her visit in May and again in June. In 2023 Lyndon was able to shoot two navy ships (HMCS Winnipeg and HMCS Ottawa) during a rare visit.
Going to the Harbour Quay from time to time is always an opportunity to get new photos of two of Port Alberni's most popular boats: The Francis Barklay and the Swept Away Inn. The Francis Barklay is a transport ship that offers tourists an opportunity to cruise down the inlet while the Swept Away Inn is a tug boat repurposed as a bed and breakfast and tied up at Centennial Pier.
Parades are always an excellent opportunity to shoot automobiles. The annual ADSS Grad Parade is the start of the high school prom night. past Canada Day parades are another, and finally there is the annual Alberni District Fall Fair parade.
Yet another special event in the Alberni Valley which I love to photograph is the Labour Day antique truck show. The truck show is hosted by the Industrial Heritage Society and is a must visit prior to taking in the annual Salmon Festival.
Port Alberni Farm Machinery Photography
The Fall Fair always gives me an opportunity to seek out something unique. The past couple of years I've had fun getting a photo from the Off-Road Raicing team. There is usually a demonstration of the Tractor Pulls as well which I try to make a point of visiting.
Port Alberni Aviation Photographer
A few airplanes have slowly made their way into my photographic collection. On July 19 2021 the Snowbirds did a flyby as part of a cross Canada pandemic tour. On December 11 2024 the Philippine Mars did a test fly over of my home and again on February 9 2025 the she took her final good-byle fly over as she flew out of the Valley on her way to her new home in Arizona where she will don on display at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson.
